Oikos Consultants was founded to address the widening gap between development ambitions and environmental sustainability.
We saw a clear need for interdisciplinary approaches that combine rigorous field science with practical, on-the-ground solutions.
Our goal is to support industries, governments, and communities in making informed, environmentally responsible decisions while ensuring that development remains inclusive, balanced, and sustainable. Oikos comes from the Greek root that gives us "ecology" and "economy," a reminder that environmental health and economic health are not opposites. They are the same conversation.
Our Story
India's development trajectory is extraordinary. But so is the ecological complexity of the landscapes it moves through.
Our founders spent decades working at every level of India's environmental ecosystem: in government institutions, with corporate sustainability teams, on mining restoration projects, in farmers' fields, and inside regulatory processes. What they kept finding was the same gap.
Companies needed to meet ecological and sustainability obligations. The science to do it properly existed. But the practitioners who could deliver both field rigour and regulatory fluency in the same engagement were almost impossible to find.
Oikos was built to fill that gap.
