Dr. Dixit is a distinguished ecologist with over 35 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, with deep expertise in wetland ecology, forestry, agroforestry, and ecosystem services. His work spans a wide range of ecosystems across India including wetlands, forests, grasslands, mangroves, and agroecosystems, contributing to sustainable resource management and ecological resilience at landscape scale.
Research and conservation: Dr. Dixit has led impactful research and conservation initiatives focused on ecosystem restoration, wetland and grassland management, and socio-economic integration. His notable contributions include studies in the Little Rann of Kachchh and the Tarai region, two of India's most ecologically significant and complex landscapes.
Technical breadth: His project portfolio spans eco-tourism planning, coral reef valuation, and community-based biodiversity programmes across multiple states. He brings strong capabilities in GIS and remote sensing to every Oikos engagement, enabling the spatial analysis and field verification that sets Oikos's work apart.
Institutional collaborations: He has collaborated with leading national and international organisations including MoEFCC, IUCN, WWF, the World Bank, ADB, FAO, and GIZ, playing a significant role in shaping conservation strategies and policy frameworks at both national and international levels.
